Coin Collecting Is a Great Hobby for Kids
Coin collecting is a great hobby to share with your kids or grandkids. It is so exciting for them to sort through your change jars looking for a year they don't already have. It's a hobby that's easy and inexpensive to get into, but that's not the only reason it's a good choice of hobby for children.
Bonding Opportunities
Sharing a hobby with your kids or grandkids provides bonding opportunities. This is true of other hobbies too, not just coin collecting. But it can be a lot of fun, especially if you or your child is a history buff, to go back and look up the stories about the creation of each coin design and find out where they were made and whether there is anything special about them.
The Thrill of Treasure Hunting
The biggest thrill of coin collecting is finding a treasure that has gone unnoticed by others for many years. Can you imagine how exciting it would be for a child to discover a coin that has been in circulation since the early 1900's? Most of these coins are already in someone's collection, but every now and then a new one turns up.
As your child's collection (or your own) starts getting closer to completion, it will get more difficult to find coins that you don't already have. At this point, you might want to start looking for coin dealers in Michigan that can sell you the coins you are missing. Call Grand Valley Gold & Silver at (616) 735-4653 to find out how we can help you expand your coin collection.
